GearBox supplies EVS for major BT M&B contract

World-renowned broadcast equipment developer EVS is delighted to announce that XT2 servers will be at the heart of BT Media & Broadcast (BTM&B) Production Facilities for all feeds of the Barclays Premiership matches, plus FA Cup and England internationals during the forthcoming UK football season.

GearBox (Sound and Vision) Limited, a leading UK supplier of video solutions to the broadcast, film and TV industries, have ordered multiple new XT2 servers to fulfil the prestigious BT M&B contract.

The order brings the total fleet of EVS XT2 servers available from GearBox to twenty. GearBox has additionally upgraded eight of its existing LSM-XT servers to XT2 HD thereby making all its EVS machines HD capable.

“EVS technology has become a core part of our business,” says GearBox Managing Director Richard Eastwood. “Equipment such as the XT2 server is fast becoming the defacto standard for live production because of its speed, workflow efficiencies and robustness. It’s our business to provide the best possible solutions and support to our clients working in mission critical environments and we are totally confident that EVS fits that criteria.”

Among the recent projects for which GearBox have supplied EVS servers are long term hires to CTV Outside Broadcast for Sky Sports’ summer cricket coverage; NEP Visions for broadcast of Channel 4 Horseracing; Sky Sports Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC); French Open Tennis; T4 Wireless Festival and the Tour De France.

Based on its solid experience in digital live broadcast, EVS XT2 production server and its related software applications deliver the highest level of reliability and flexibility required in any broadcast production environment. Built on an open architecture model, the XT2 server offers broadcasters full integration into any existing broadcast infrastructure for live, near live and studio production application either in SD or HD.

“We are proud of our continuing professional relationship with the GearBox team,” says EVS UK Sales Manager Mike Snell. “The XT2 production and playout server is at the forefront of a new generation of EVS technology featuring full HD/SD compatibility. The world’s leading broadcasters have consistently chosen EVS servers for their outstanding picture quality, reactivity, reliability and versatility.”
